"STAUFF understands the Rolling Stock Industry"
This is how Michael Tramer sums up STAUFF's expertise for the rail industry.
The Strategic Account Manager RAIL at STAUFF and his team presented STAUFF's services for the rail industry to an international audience at InnoTrans, the world's leading trade fair for transport technology.
With great success, as he explains in this interview with the STAUFF Blog.
This year, the focus at InnoTrans was on STAUFF Line. What does STAUFF Line mean for the international rolling stock industry?
STAUFF Line stands for a complete package of components, systems and value-added services for all types of line systems in rail vehicles. The programme is deliberately designed as a scalable offer, ranging from the supply of individual components to the production of complex assemblies and cooperation in engineering. For many years, internationally positioned manufacturers, suppliers and service providers in the railway industry have benefited from the fact that we provide all components as a full liner, but with STAUFF Line we can also take responsibility for the entire line system if desired.
What industry-specific products does STAUFF offer?
First of all, rail vehicle manufacturers and their suppliers and service providers source components from our standard range of more than 50,000 products. In addition, there are components specially developed for use in rail transport. They meet the special requirements of rail transport, e.g. special fire protection specifications according to EN 45545-2 or other international standards.
One example is clamps made of flame-retardant plastics for fastening pipes, tubes and hoses, but also electrical cables, water, pneumatic and other low-pressure lines.
Here we have recently launched Multi-Line Clamps, which can be used to fasten up to six cables with identical or different diameters. Such multiple clamps, also called multi clamps, series clamps or series strips, are particularly suitable for supply lines in the underfloor area.
What is the advantage for customers who purchase systems as well as components?
The delivery of systems is, so to speak, the next level of cooperation. Here we are talking about manipulated and ready-to-install pipes and tubes, hose assemblies or entire line sections from port-to-port.
We deliver complex assemblies prepared ready for installation or, where appropriate, on shadow boards with all accessories clearly arranged, directly to the assembly line.
This saves assembly time and reduces the risk of assembly errors. Of course, this also has logistical advantages. Working with STAUFF always includes optimising procurement and supply.
What are the services STAUFF offers beyond that?
Our team of application engineers with special expertise for the international rail vehicle industry advises on the selection of components, takes over the design of complete line systems and the planning of assemblies.
Those who take advantage of this high-end package receive maximum relief in the area of the hydraulic line system because STAUFF assumes complete responsibility for this.
How successful was InnoTrans for STAUFF?
The feedback from our trade fair visitors can be summed up in one sentence: "STAUFF understands the rolling stock industry". After a break of four years, InnoTrans was the opportunity to meet our long-standing business partners and customers from the international rail vehicle industry, as well as to get to know potential new customers and convince them of our expertise. We are now seen as a full-line supplier by the major rail vehicle manufacturers, and we are considered to be a future strategic supplier.
