Where and how are silica breathers installed?

Episode 17 of the STAUFF Miniseries "Is Your Hydraulic System Breathing Properly?"

STAUFF silica breathers protect the hydraulic system on a mobile or stationary machine reliably against dirt and moisture. For optimum connection, an extensive range of components, e.g. adapters, fittings, threads or valves, is available for integrating additional functions – such as oil separation – into the assemblies. The video gives you an insight into the various options:

Practical tip

STAUFF silica breathers can also be retrofitted easily. If a “simple” breather has already been installed, the neck or hole flange can be reused without having to make any structural changes to the reservoir.

If additional holes are required or a neck has to be welded on, it should be ensured that no chips or other waste enter into the reservoir – after all, this is all about keeping the hydraulic oil clean! To be on the safe side, the oil should be drained first. It is practical to combine the retrofitting of the silica breather with changing the fluid.
