IOGP Updates Specification S-716 for Small Bore Tubing and Fittings

New amendments in version 1.01 reinforce the STAUFF originated anti corrosion clamp design (ACT type) as the industry standard for corrosion-resistant tubing support in oil and gas applications

The International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) has recently released an updated version of its Specification S-716 for Small Bore Tubing and Fittings, created under the Joint Industry Programme 33 (JIP33).

The new version 1.01, dated November 2025, further strengthens the design type and critical role tubing clamps used in petroleum and natural gas applications play in mitigating against crevice corrosion (corrosion under pipe clamps).

Clearer Requirements for Tubing Clamps

Amendments to section 4.4.4.1 of the guidelines leave no doubt: the Anti-Corrosion tube clamp design remains the preferred solution for these demanding environments. Among other features, STAUFF ACT clamps meet all relevant requirements, including:

  • Use of UV-resistant and flame-retardant polymer with SS 316 mounting hardware
  • Anti-corrosion design, free-draining, and promoting air circulation in marine environments
  • Prohibition of metal-on-metal clamps for installation, support, or routing of tubing
  • Tubing clamp design shall allow the tubing to be inspected without disassembly.

These changes make it even clearer that conventional solutions are no longer accepted under the updated specification.

Comprehensive Range for Global Applications

STAUFF ACT clamps are available in Standard Series and Twin Series based on DIN 3015, covering all common metric and imperial tube diameters from 6 mm / ¼ in up to 88.9 mm / 3½ in.

Most recently, STAUFF has also introduced ACT clamps in a Multi-Line Design, offering even greater flexibility for complex installations.

Additional STAUFF ACT innovations were already integrated into the supply chain ahead of this new guidance, with STAUFF now offering ACT-SC. This unique solution ensures structural continuity without the need for metal-on-metal clamps, which are no longer accepted for installation, support, or routing of tubing from now on.

With these updates, STAUFF continues to set the global benchmark for corrosion-resistant tubing support in the oil and gas industry.

About the IOGP

The International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) is the petroleum industry's global forum in which members identify and share best practices to achieve improvements in health, safety, the environment, security, social responsibility, engineering and operations.

The purpose of their S-716 specification documents is to define a minimum common set of requirements for the procurement of small bore tubing and fittings for application in the petroleum and natural gas industries.
