Why STAUFF is the right partner for wind turbines

STAUFF has many years of experience in safety-critical and permanently stressed applications. The solutions are designed for a long service life, standard-compliant design and low-maintenance operation.

In addition to individual components, STAUFF offers modular system solutions that can be flexibly integrated into different system concepts. Standardised products, global availability and on-site technical advice make STAUFF a reliable partner throughout the entire life cycle of a wind turbine.

Typical requirements in wind turbines

Wind turbines are subject to constant high mechanical loads due to vibrations, oscillations and the dead weight of cables and components. At the same time, the systems used must reliably cover temperature ranges of typically -20 °C to +50 °C.

Offshore applications in particular have additional requirements such as humidity, salty air and UV exposure. Standardised protection, fire protection and a design that is as maintenance-free as possible are key criteria when selecting suitable components.

Added value for operators, OEMs and system integrators

The use of STAUFF solutions helps to increase system availability and reduce unplanned downtimes. Standardised components and pre-assembled modules simplify assembly processes and reduce process risks.

Over the entire life cycle of a wind turbine, operators and manufacturers benefit from consistently high quality, simplified maintenance and standardised spare parts availability worldwide.

Global expertise with local support

Wind turbines are planned, manufactured and operated internationally. STAUFF solutions are consistently designed for global use in wind turbines and are used in onshore and offshore turbines in all world markets.

As a global manufacturer, STAUFF combines high quality and material standards with an international sales and service network to support global wind energy projects from the development phase through to long-term operation.

Solutions for vertical electrical cabling in the tower

The vertical electrical cabling ensures the safe transmission of the electrical energy generated from the generator in the nacelle via the tower to the transformer. In addition, control, regulation and communication signals as well as the supply of auxiliary consumers are transmitted.

The high dead weights of the cables, permanent vibrations and sometimes extreme ambient conditions place special demands on fastening and operational safety. STAUFF supports this application with solutions that are designed for permanent fixing, standard-compliant design and freedom from maintenance.

WPC clamps

WPC clamps

WPC clamps

Area of application:
WPC clamps are used to secure low and medium voltage cables in vertical cable routes within the tower. They ensure secure routing even with long cable lengths and high dead weights.

Design and advantages:
The clamps enable tool-free installation and significantly reduce the installation effort. They offer a vibration-resistant fixing, are corrosion-resistant and fulfil the requirements for short-circuit resistance in accordance with DIN EN and VDE. As a result, they contribute to safe and low-maintenance operation.

Solutions for hydraulic systems in the nacelle

Hydraulic systems perform central control and safety functions in wind turbines. These include pitch systems for rotor blade adjustment, yaw systems for aligning the nacelle and yaw brakes for secure fixing.

These systems have to withstand high pressure and load changes, vibrations and changing temperatures for decades. STAUFF offers components and system solutions that are designed for fatigue strength, standardisation and global availability.
