STAUFF Inline Filter Type SFM

The STAUFF SFM series inline filters are compact, high-performance filtration solutions for hydraulic drive and control circuits operating at medium pressures. They reliably remove solid particles from hydraulic and lubricating oil, thereby protecting pumps, valves and actuators from premature wear and malfunctions. Thanks to their low weight, they are a cost-effective alternative to larger and heavier high-pressure filters and are particularly suitable for mobile machinery and equipment where installation space, mass and weight play a decisive role. The robust housings, made from powder-coated carbon steel, ensure a high level of operational reliability and resistance to mechanical stresses and environmental influences. In combination with the high-performance filter elements of the STAUFF SE series, a wide range of filtration grades is available – ideal for the application-specific design of a wide variety of hydraulic systems.

Buy STAUFF SFM series inline filters for medium pressures

The STAUFF SFM series inline filters are compact, high-performance filter solutions for hydraulic drive and control circuits in the medium-pressure range.

The robust housings made of powder-coated carbon steel ensure high operational reliability and resistance to mechanical stresses and environmental influences. In combination with the high-performance filter elements of the STAUFF SE series, a wide range of filtration grades is available – ideal for the application-specific design of a wide variety of hydraulic systems.

Materials and design

The SFM filter housings are made of durable carbon steel, which is finished as standard with a long-lasting powder coating. This reliably protects the assembly against corrosion and abrasion – both during stationary operation and during transport and installation. For larger quantities, custom colour options are available, for example according to RAL or NCS.

Sealing is provided by NBR seals, which have proven their worth in most hydraulic systems. Depending on the medium or temperature range, other seal materials can be selected. The design complies with the standard STAUFF safety standard, with a minimum safety factor of three relative to the maximum operating pressure.

Product variants and technical specifications

The SFM in-line filters are available in several sizes and versions, suitable for a wide range of hydraulic applications. Depending on the model, they offer:

  • maximum operating pressure up to 280 bar

  • maximum flow rates of up to 100 l/min

  • significant weight savings compared with comparable high-pressure filters

  • a selection of different filter media and filter finenesses from the SE series

This enables both mobile and stationary systems to be designed efficiently and with minimal use of materials.

Principle of operation and use

The filters are integrated directly into the pressure line of the hydraulic circuit. The oil flows through the filter element, reliably separating out solid particles. The aerodynamic housing design ensures an even load on the filter media and enables consistent filtration performance – even at higher flow rates.

The compact design facilitates installation, maintenance and replacement of the filter elements, particularly in confined spaces within mobile machinery or hydraulic power units. The filter element can be replaced in just a few simple steps once the system has been depressurised.

Key features of the SFM series

The SFM series offers a technically sophisticated combination of high filtration performance, low weight and durable construction. Key features include:

  • compact, weight-optimised design

  • robust steel housing with high-quality powder coating

  • a wide range of filter media and mesh sizes thanks to SE filter elements

  • Suitability for mineral hydraulic oils, lubricating oils and many biodegradable media (depending on the application)

  • optional custom colour variants for appropriate order quantities

These features make SFM inline filters a reliable solution for OEMs, plant manufacturers and operators who value a durable, low-maintenance and customisable filtration solution.

Areas of application

SFM inline filters are used in a wide range of hydraulic systems, including:

  • mobile machinery (agricultural and forestry machinery, small construction machinery)

  • Industrial hydraulics and general plant engineering

  • lubricating oil and cooling circuits

  • compact hydraulic power units

  • Applications with limited installation space and medium operating pressures

Wherever continuous oil filtration in the line is required and weight and installation space are limited, the SFM series offers a suitable filter solution.

Advantages of the SFM in-line filters

The SFM series combines a compact design with high filtration performance, enabling reliable, efficient and cost-effective oil treatment. The low weight reduces the overall mass of mobile machinery and can help to lower operating costs. Furthermore, the high availability of SE replacement filter elements ensures short downtimes and straightforward maintenance planning.

The SFM series is also of interest to machine and plant manufacturers because, thanks to the various sizes and filter grades available, it can be flexibly integrated into existing or new hydraulic systems.
