STAUFF Inline Filter Type SFM

A STAUFF SFM in-line filter is a filter housing for hydraulic systems operating at medium pressures. It is fitted directly into the pipeline and removes solid particles from hydraulic or lubricating oils to protect pumps, valves and cylinders from wear and failure.

The SFM series belongs to the medium-pressure filter class, which means that the filter housings are designed for operating pressures of up to 280 bar. They bridge the gap between simple low-pressure or return filters and heavy-duty high-pressure filters, and are therefore particularly suitable for many standard mobile and industrial applications.

Depending on the size, SFM in-line filters support operating pressures of up to 280 bar and flow rates of up to 100 l/min. They thus cover a large proportion of typical in-line filter applications in mobile and industrial hydraulics, where compact dimensions and low weight are important.

SFM in-line filters are primarily used for mineral-based hydraulic and lubricating oils. In many cases, they can also be used with biodegradable hydraulic fluids, provided that the filter media, seals and operating conditions are suitable. If in doubt, the specific application should be checked in advance.

STAUFF SE series filter elements are used in the SFM filter housings. These elements are available in various filter media and micron ratings, allowing filtration to be adapted to the purity requirements and oil type of the respective system.

Compared to conventional high-pressure filters, SFM in-line filters are lighter and more compact, as they are designed for an operating pressure of up to 280 bar. This makes them particularly suitable for mobile machinery and compact units where weight and installation space are limited. High-pressure filters, on the other hand, are primarily used where significantly higher system pressures occur.

Depending on their design, SFM in-line filters can be installed in pressure or return lines. They are always fitted where continuous filtration of the oil flow is required in the main flow of the system and where the operating pressures correspond to the medium-pressure class of the SFM series.

Typical areas of application include mobile machinery such as construction, agricultural and forestry machinery, compact hydraulic power units, industrial plants with medium-pressure hydraulics, and lubricating oil circuits. Wherever installation space is limited but reliable oil filtration in the piping system is still required, the SFM series is a suitable option.

The filter element replacement process is designed to be carried out in just a few simple steps. Once the pressure has been relieved, the housing is opened, the contaminated SE filter element is removed and replaced with a new one. The compact design ensures that access remains possible even in confined installation spaces.
